The rod bearing problem certainly became less of an issue with our S54 4M engines, in that it had been identified, and corrected. Our cars did not get the recall either that the earlier M3's got. Think it was a faulty composite from the shell manufacturer.
Most if not all owners are aware today that the engine and oils must be up to temperature before any vigorous exercise. No more than any other high performance engine of that era, its prudent preventative maintenance. Part of the ownership parcel.

And this chassis, and the Z4 as well, 2006- 2008 are fitted with the Getrag GS6 37BZ/DZ gearboxes, NOT a ZF unit.
Interesting video, always interested in seeing how the "experts" rate our cars!
