Much like all-season tires, there isn't really a pad that is great for all scenarios. I switch before/after every event, between OE street pads and Hawk DTC-60's for the track. It's really not too difficult and gives me a chance to do a thorough cleaning and inspection of the wheel well area before/after a track day.
I'd rather know I have a capable pad for each driving situation, rather than the feeling in the back of my head to be easy because my pad choice was a compromise.
