So bumping this.

Seems like there are 3 options for backing plates, none being directly bolt on (thank Bmw for making our car a mismatch of pieces)

-modified e36
-modified e46
-custom

E46 has been proven in this thread to work, but with abou as much modification as starting from scratch. I'm going to go that route. Mock up in cardboard, then transfer to sheet metal and get some track days on them. Then a final carbon iteration if I think it's worth it. Only problem with carbon is that ambient temps of this area will be hot!! That means either high temp resins, particularly infusion based, or pre preg. I have both currently so who knows what I will go with. Pre preg will be all out variant.
