I would say get it for 2 reasons. If the kid wants a crotch rocket he will get one sooner or later. My rents never let me have one, first thing I bought was a crotch rocket that I had no place on, cause they didn't start me out right (and I REALLLY wanted one!). LOL. I fell out of my seat on this one.. He is a little young but responsibility comes with a good guardian. 50cc's really wouldn't hurt a soul unless if he was riding off a cliff. Teach him some responsibility. Kids will fall but as long as he gets back up. good luck
