Wow. Thanks for the info.
I don't think there's anything else in an alternator that's prone to failure except the voltage regulator, but I never knew you could buy one separately.
Then again, I suppose the rebuilders must get them from somewhere.
I'll bookmark this for the inevitable day when mine goes out.
