Please don't quote me on that as I have not done the job myself however in one of the top motor threads recently someone had mentioned that the hydraulics for the top motor are self-bleeding.
I had an issue personally where the top stopped operating even though the motor was replaced. At some point in time I had just pushed the button and held it pressed for a long time. In a minute or so I started hearing the fluid rushing through the lines and the roof had activated and working since. Felt like it was a problem with air in the hydraulics.
