Yes, you can request the performance delivery as early as when you order the car. That's when I requested it. At least a couple people on bmw forums requested PDC when their X6/X5 was being built. BMW was able to reroute those to the PDC instead of transporting to the dealer. Of course, earlier is better because the PDC slots do fill up.

How patient are you? Based on posts there and in other threads, you may have to wait until mid-January for a PDC slot unless there is a cancellation. The X3 launch reportedly took quite a few slots.

However, check out the thread below. They were offering a few PDC slots the week after Christmas for people who didn't mind not doing the factory tour (the factory will be closed that week). Your Sales Advisor may not know about that option (assuming those are not filled).
