I added MBI when the mileage got close to 15k. It essentially is a cheap way of getting the equivalent of extended warranty after the 4yr/50k-mile, but completely useless before that.
My understanding is MBI is only for new or leased car. So not sure about it being transferable to a 2nd owner.
