I weighed the stripped OEM metal hatch today =31.6 lbs.-(no glass,trim,latches,emblems).
The all glass hatch -(also devoid/stripped of parts) =10.8 lbs !
Quite typical of metal to composite replacement comparo's.
The OEM glass window = 15.8 lbs. I would imagine a Lexan replacement would also come in 2/3rds lighter as well.
So a composite hatch and window may hit
16.1lbs lbs as opposed to metal and glass pushing south of
47 lbs Not bad at all.
Savings of 31.3 lbs. off the rear axle leverage !
