Cool Sepang Bronze + Advan RS (dark gun) + AP Racing BBK (red)

When I took delivery back in Summer 2008, I washed her every weekend. Over the years it's been less and less frequent. Sometimes months at a time. But she cleans up nice Wax this time, too.

Some might remember the photo set after I got the Advan RS. Since then, H&R springs and AP Racing BBK.

My car is 1 of 6 Sepang Bronze + Black interior. Of the 68 Sepang Bronze produced, most had Sepang interior, which is just too much brown IMO. The black keeps it modern. I'm not sure yet how many of the 6 had the Walnut trim. But it's safe to say the BBK now makes it a confirmed one-of-a-kind.

very very cool!!

those brakes will NEVER let you down, awesome pieces, are they they official UK pieces?? they appear to be. Here in the UK the m3 csl guys literally pound these kits to insane levels,
be sure to switch to a suitable pad for the track, the car looks awesome with those wheels and brake setup!! AP racing have a serious pedigree when it comes to brakes, you choose well !! Did you order any extra's, i see the enamel red paint, wondering if you spec'd knock back springs , rotor upgrades?

snap !!

don't forget the bed in process and the all important pad transfer layer process!!

They are the genuine UK model and I waited months for them to be built.

Not sure what you mean by the other stuff. They're the Z4M application as found on their website. Didn't know about any extras. When they got here, I did notice that the fronts are designed for Z4M, while the rears are M3 according to the documentation.

I just followed the manual for the bedding. It didn't mention transfer layer.

Are you saying the supplied pads are no good? They do squeak A LOT, not that it has anything to do with performance.

***

I do gotta say that the installation for the rears was a fuckin bitch due to the nuts BETWEEN the mounting bracket and rotor. What a retarded design decision on BMW's part. On top of that, I needed to use shims which made it even worse. The shims kept falling off the bolt as I tried to keep the nut in the open wrench to thread the bolt through. Took some Cirque du Soleil finesse. The installation was no problem until I got to that fuckin part.

why i ask is stillen in the usa make their own version using the ap part catelog but its not a proper ap developed for m3/z4m kit, the proper ap from uk currently has a wait list of around 4-5 months!! insane!! Great that you got the proper kit from AP UK , was just confirming this, as the stillen kits seem to tarnish APs name with incorrect parts supplied ETC, you will have gotten proper hand checked of list with your official kit. The supplied APF404 is a great fast road with light track use pad, but it won't withstand HEAVY track use but will take some abuse they are a similar compound to the ds2500, once you've bedded those pads in properly, they'll be silent, but they do need proper hard use to keep them silent.

FYI you can also spec Race rotors, knock back springs (i have these) and a few other things.... The red enamel paint is a nice option and is very very durable, had mine through many heat cycles and they still look new, ( not my DD btw). Take a look at the vid below, this is a great way to do it controlled and keep a nice transfer layer, i do this before my sprint sessions.

mine regularly have smoke gently coming out the wheel after track session :-) hmmm love that smell!! GREAT choice op, to keep them quiet get them hot, lot of gentle use the car will start to sound like a bus. lmao !!

And yes that back bolt is a pain in the ass!! especially with the shimming process, luckily i got through this easily.

Will you be tracking this car soon?? please drop back and give me an update on these ASAP :-)

Wish. I moved quite a bit farther away from a track than I used to be. And financials aren't lining up with track time ATM. In fact the reason I got these was because I burned up the stock brakes at Laguna Seca. I never want to have to deal with that again.

Looks good.

Only thing is you really need coils to kill that 1 inch front gap. I was there and had these springs on my old Z4 and could not stand that gap and went coilovers. Made it much more level and cleared out the front gap that the H&R springs are known to have.

This really looks great, almost makes me wish I'd have gone Sepang. Tasteful wheel choice, loving the overall color combo between Sepang, the Advans, and the AP's!
