Reliable Auto Transport

Anyone know of an excellent & reliable Auto Transport company? Need to start getting quotes for shipping a Z4M Coupe from NY to CA...

Thanks...

I used DAS and had no issues. The car had +1 mile upon pick-up.

I used Enclosed Vehicle Transport (http://www.enclosedvehicletransport.com/) to get my M to me from Tulsa to San Diego last summer. It was enclosed, obviously, everything went very smoothly and iirc cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $1800. Worth every penny for the peace of mind of an enclosed trailer and a company that does an awesome job. The even sent me a Christmas card!

I used Intercity Lines (http://www.intercitylines.com/) to transport my MCoupe from CT to San Francisco, CA last year. It was almost $2k but the service was the best (my car was the cheapest in the trailer. Highly recommended.

Yep Same here.

Purchased the car in 2011. Intercity Line $1.8k MD to NV.

Never used this sort of service, but they were pro all the way through.

All this talk about transporting your M Coupes across country, raises yet another question....

Did everyone that transported, but their M Coupe's new or used? Test drove the vehicle first or just through pictures and "autotrader"??

whats your best advice around buying out of state..?

I bought mine used from a BMW dealer. Traded in by the original owner for a new M3. The first guy I talked to said it was perfect. When I asked the next guy I talked to to commit to that statement he said that would be setting me up for disappointment - a reasonable response, of course. It showed up in very nice shape. Not perfect but very nice. My advice for buying sight unseen out of state? Really good luck and/or an independent inspection.

Yep - I picked mine up out of state. Had a friend take a look at it for me and test drive it. It was still under warranty so that helped. It had very low miles and was in mint condition. Shipped it via enclosed carrier as well.

best advice: Get a PPI done.
2nd: dont trust carfax.
3rd: Google the VIN + words like "Accident", "Crash", "Body Work", etc.

I did not do a PPI, out of pure ignorance and false peace of mind given the cars low miles, my friend checking it out, remaining warranty, and friendly private seller on the other end. Granted I lucked out as the car was 100% perfect, but I could have regretted not getting a PPI.

Very good advice... very good indeed... the car I want is at a BMW dealership. You think I should still get a PPI? or would it be an insult to them at BMW?

Its your money and your problem down the road. Get a ppi if it helps you gain peace of mind. Anyone who gets insulted by an informed, educated, smart consumer, is not someone that you want to be doing business with, in my opinion. I don't care if its a dealer or not. There are good dealers and not so good dealers.

Agreed. (Though not at all based on my experience with my purchase.)
