The new Milwaukee cordless tools have been great. If you do much under the hood, check out the M12 cordless ratchet. I do this professionally and this is probably my favorite tool. I also have a cordless LED light that takes the same battery. The switch went bad and the light would flicker at times. Went to their site, filled out the warranty repair form, and printed a shipping label. No cost to send it back, and new light arrived within a week and a half. Very pleased with the warranty service, just keep your receipt, though you probably won't need it. 2 of those Milwaukee impacts in our shop now for about a year, working flawlessly. You will be very pleased. Happy Birthday!!!

Here's another vote for cordless impacts (I love mine). Other than airing up tires, I rarely have the air hose out anymore.
Good choice.

I have the 28v version and it is a great tool, have used it for 4 years without a glitch. Also have most of the remaining V28 tools for work, best cordless tools on the market.

Me too. I second that nomination.

Whats the model number of the cordless ratchet? I'd like to get something that uses the same M18 battery

Great to hear that other people are using these tools, I originally wanted a Sears brand one that my friend has, but he said its too weak and you have to break the initial torque of the wheel lugs by hand. Then I did some quick research on Amazon, sorted by reviews, and ended up buying it for a few bucks cheaper on Ebay.com

I was thinking of getting this thing for the hard to reach nuts and bolts on the car. Not sure if its strong enough

Don't purchase this hunk of Asian garbage... The replacement batteries are more than the drill and the batteries are defective

http://www.portercable.com/products/...roductID=21316

I have a 28 year old Makita I dusted off last summer that had been in the tool box for over 20 years; charged it up... Presto, works like new?

I was considering that exact same model but opted for the corded Harbor Freight one for $38. I know, complete opposite of the spectrum. I may still get one of these eventually though. Would love to read your thoughts on it once you've had it a while.

Most people don't have an issues with these batteries, plus they come with a 5 year warranty

I doubt that porter cable drill can take off my lug nuts

I had to have wireless, so corded wasn't in my consideration. I have a few things from harbor freight (hammer drill is the most expensive one), but I wouldn't consider them as long term investments. I recently purchased a dremel from them, and returned it the next day when I realized it was so weak that it can't even cut trough thin plastic without stopping

I usually consider them as "once in a while tools" but thought I'd give it a shot for the price. Was having a hard time finding glowing reviews on any particular corded or cordless impact. Of the onces I saw the Milwaukee was the highest rated of the bunch. Probably just use the HF till I get around to getting a solid cordless.

You can also read that as, "I just dropped $3k on wheels, tires and suspension and didn't have much left for tools."

I was wrong, the tool is 5 year, batteries are 3 year according to the manufacturer http://www.milwaukeetool.com/power-t...rdless/2663-22

No biggie, the warranty says 5 years on Amazon for a replacement one. Plus you get 2 of them with the drill kit. I doubt both will go bad on me.
http://www.amazon.com/Milwaukee-48-1...rds=48-11-1828

but then again, I'm defending a tool that I don't even have in my hands yet, I just ordered it this weekend. Once it arrives, I'll provide a fair review

I have the Craftsman. It can get 88ft-lb lugs off easy enough. Although it has struggled a few times.

The cordless ratchet uses the M12 battery, not the M18. The 18V battery would be too bulky to have on the end of a ratchet. The ratchet I am speaking of is here: http://www.cpomilwaukee.com/milwauke...ukee-m12-tools . If you watch, every now and then they will do a promotion with a free battery with purchase. I use mine professionally, so I keep 3 batteries, 1 for the ratchet, 1 for the light, and 1 for a spare to swap when one dies. The ratchet and the impact are both great products. If you do much with the smaller bolts, the ratchet is invaluable.

+1 on the M12 ratchet. I love mine, think I almost giggled as it worked the exhaust bolts free in about 8 seconds.

I'm a little leery of using a ratchet to loosen the wheel studs. A friend of mine wrenched his elbow using one as it spun(instead of breaking free the stud, was that because it was under powered?). Gotta use a torque wrench anyway to put them back on anyway. That said...I'd love to use one
