Reaching out

Hi there...anyone here from Western NY? I am the I am the new Western New York rep for the Z Series Car Club of America. I just started the regional group Flower City RoadsterZ for our area and am excited to get this club going! Spring and nicer weather are just around the corner and I'm sure we're all ready thinking about getting our Z3, Z4, and Z4M's out of storage and back on the road.

My hope is to organize some drives and social events during the spring, summer and fall so that we can enjoy our cars to the fullest, meet new people with similar 'interests and have fun. Of course, if your membership in the ZSCCA has lapsed, you'll need to join (it's only $30/year) at ZSCCA Home. Please check out our group's Facebook page at Flower City RoadsterZ and if you're interested, click "Join Group" in the upper right. That would be the most convenient way to communicate to all in the group.

I hope to hear from many of you and look forward to a fun driving season.

what benefits do you get being a member of ZSCCA? Discounts on parts? Discounts on track events?

A number of us are Trillium BMW Club members but for the most part, we are just a bunch of random folk who get together to cruise.

A private track day just for Z3/4's would be awesome, maybe something at the Glen!

Not true to my knowledge. I was trying to plan a day for some us to go down to the Glen and while its true that most of the BMW clubs won't allow soft tops even with factory roll bars, I contacted a Porsche club and they said they do allow it for their days at the Glen. As long as you are a PCA member, you can bring your Z to one of their track days.

Good to know , I was also disapointed to learn that BMWCCA did not allow roadsters on thier track days, I'd join PCA to get on the track. keep us posted if you are headed to the glen, maybe we could join you?

Would be great. FYI, the BMW clubs up here allow us roadsters. Planning a day at Calabogie either in May or July.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what does PCA stand for? In my line of work it means patient controlled analgesia. :-)

That is correct. The ban on any type of convertible is strictly a BMW thing. I should have been more precise.

Porsche Club of America. Unlike the BMW CCA, which allows anyone to join, you must own a Porsche and provide the VIN if you want to join. If you know that you are going to buy a BMW in the future, BMW CCA allows you to join and once you've been a member for a full year you will get a $500-$1500 rebate on a new BMW.
