Carrera GT Seats

Saved 50.6 lbs vs. original power seats, but a very tight fit for even someone as thin as me. Actual seat is 14.8 lbs each.

ooh! fancy. Not sure how I feel about the headrest trim, but can't deny the weight savings and overall quality.

How much harder is it to get in and out?

I think that trim goes real well with the OE AL trim.

Thanks! Much harder to get in and out, especially when you are trying to avoid scuffing the bottom bolster by suspending your weight on the door sill.

Holy crap. Those are ACTUAL Porsche Carrera GT seats? How much was the mortgage you had to take out for those bad boys?

There is no Porsche emblem on them, they are replica seats made of PU leather (similar to what Recaro uses) and fully carbon fiber. They are also not FIA approved. Also, same style seats used on the GT3RS.

Generic sidemounts and sliders (no sliders for passenger seat as there is no need to move the seat), and Planted seat base which weight about 8lbs each. I usually weld my brackets but these were fairly inexpensive and bolted right up.

I have yet to drive any measurable distance to rate these seats on comfort, but from various reviews I've read, GT3/GT seats are uncomfortable for long trips. They do force you to hunch your shoulders a bit, and it takes some effort to take a deep breath since your chest doesn't have much room to expand. Did I mention these seats are tight?

awful for roadtrip, great for track. nice, very nice, esp since they don't have P emblems to ruin the look. Nothing against P-cars, just don't think any car in the world should have dual emblems (aside from the RS2)

Had an hour drive including passenger. Finally no lower back pain as with the OEM seats! I felt surprisingly comfortable for the entire trip, and snug as well. Amazing how I feel more in tune with the car during any turn or acceleration with these seats.

The trick is to not wear a large thick winter coat

You may have luck searching google or Ebay for Z4 components. I purchased the sidemounts with the seats.

do you mind providing figures:

how much each seat weighted exactly?

OEM driver= ? , OEM passenger= ?

ReplicaGT driver= ? , ReplicaGT passenger= ?

So, I can compare when I look into aftermarket seats.

btw, is that ur jza80? it looks lovely

Weight Reduction Strategy

Weights are mentioned in the link above. Driver seat was 20lb less, Passenger seat 25lb less (did not use seat sliders).

And that is my Supra in my sig. Thank you for the comments!

Thanks,

So figures are:

OEM (leather/heated): driver= 56 lb , passenger= 60 lb

ReplicaGT: driver= 36 lb , passenger w/o slider= 35 lb

I will be looking into something lighter than what u got, I hope.
