Adjusting hood

After reading a previous thread about the buffer stops and some saying it tightened up their rattling hoods, I installed two new ones (mine were broken anyway) but found they did not really tighten up the hood. Then I looked at the U (or O if you will) shaped "hooks" on the underside of the hood that catch onto the two latches in the engine compartment to hold the hood down.

I removed the plastic screws holding down the black plastic cover over these "hooks" and found that the hooks could be screwed in or out. I screwed them in a full turn then replaced the black covers and tried the hood again. Voila! Tight hood.

Many may already know this trick but thought I would share for those that don't. You can experiment by half turns to get the perfect height for the hood when closed to match the bumper. You still may need to screw the buffer stops in or out slightly to adjust the tension on the hood upwards to make it all tight when closed.

I should also add, when you take out the screws holding the O hooks on, be careful as they are the plastic fasteners that are all over our car. The ones that you push in then when you screw in, the tabs spread on the backside. If you unscrew it all the way and it falls, it may be lost forever. Just back it out but leave in then pull out on the whole plastic bracket.

Jeez, and I thought I was the only one who had a loose hood. Thanks for the tip.

Is anyone with a loose hood missing their rubber bump stops? There is one on either side of the hood about halfway between the front and back, just forward of where the hood strut mounts. P/N is 51237116856, #7 in this diagram:

(click for link)

I think that they're supposed to line up with this "sticker" mounted on the inside edge of the fender next to the strut tower, but both of mine came off while drying the car and don't know where they were originally, but this looked like the most likely position:

I know that without these bump stops the hood will rattle.

The rubber inserts are much smaller than the drawing suggested, for reference:

I have done google searches, but can only find one spot that sells the bump stops. I am missing the one on the passenger side and would love to order new ones.
Does anyone know who may sell these bump stops, Number 7 in the diagram; P/N 51237116856?

Thank you

Any dealer. I was missing one as well and our local dealership brought it in overnight.
