Different tire brand on front/rear... acceptable?
Is it just faux pas or will it have handling consequences? I'll save you the trouble and
myself.

For the street, it's not that bad. I will have RE11 front and RS3 rear this summer.
For the track, try to avoid to mix different thread wear, tires brand. They won't react the same to temperature and won't grip/loose grip at the same time.

RS3s have 255, and probably Star Specs. EDIT: Just saw you run 19s.
You get to the point where you get different slip angles, sure...the tires heat up differently weather it be inside tire, outside tire...front/rear. But, if you get different tire, now you play with different sidewall deflections and slip angles. For example, RS3s require huge amounts of slip angle to get maximum grip, where as the Star Specs do not. With this, you will not satisfy the front w/out disrupting the rear...and vice versus
