If you have a micrometer, would you measure the cross section of the pintal that fits into the FCAB?

I need to know in millimeters what the cross section is.

Z4M's use an offset FCAB similar to the '95 E36M3 and E30M3. What I am trying to figure out if the Z4M front wishbone will fit the hole in the above mentioned FCAB's.

Is it a perfect fit?
Is the wishbone too big?
Is the wishbone too small and requires a sleeve?

The ultimate goal is to find out if we (the Z4M's) can use an uprated FCAB from the older cars or are we stuck with the OEM FCAB.

I do know you 'can' use a centered FCAB but you have to realize that by doing this you change the suspension geometry (scrub and thrust first come to mind) and you WILL ABSOLUTELY have to have an alignment performed after this switch. I have calculated what the changes will be but I am not sure of some of the assumptions.

I am actually willing to go out and buy the different FCAB’s but I need some data first before I attempt this or waist my money.

correct me if im wrong but dont the older models use a circle shaped through hole whereas the z4m uses a hex shaped hole? so even if it did match up it wouldnt fit properly anyways.

That is where a sleeve might come in.

Do not know until I try. No one else is...

what kind of sleeve? i think once you put a sleeve over the rear hex section of the wishbone youd be too big in diameter to fit through an older style bushing. if there was a simple solution im assuming one of the parts companies would have tried that already. I priced a mold to make new urethane bushings for the Z4M's and was quoted $8,000.

That's just it. We DON'T know what the diameter of the Z4M wishbone is....

The first step in this process is to get all the background data...
