RPI Exhaust

New RPI exhaust installed yesterday. Can't get enough of the sight or sound! Significant bonus in weight savings. Stock exhaust = 23 lbs per side, total weight 46 lbs. New RPI exhaust = 8 lbs per side, total weight = 16 lbs. Total weight reduction = 30 lbs. This product is very well built using high quality stainless and the tips sparkle like jewels! Low pitch, no raspiness and the drone is a small price to pay for aural perfection. Before/after sound clips to follow...

I love my RPI's! They look great. After a couple hundred miles they start getting black, but some wet rags cleaned them out.

Glad you like them. I'm glad I got mine too. Not too loud for me at all. I love the burbles when you get off the throttle

a clip of mine

Compare these two images... The first is a dissected OEM (without fiber stuffing) that v3.2mc posted recently on the exhaust forum:

Contrast this with the RPI straight pipe design:

In addition to the 30 lb weight reduction, RPI claims a 7 HP gain, although I've never seen any before/after dyno results to substantiate this.

How are you liking them after a few days? Ears ringing yet?

A remedy for drone exhaustion, go find a long tunnel, drop down to 2nd in Sport mode, floor it! And then enjoy the pops and bangs when you sharply lift the pedal!

Speaking of drone, I need to find that post with all the various video clips of the different exhaust set ups. I recall someone also posted db ratings for drone WOT, etc.

I thought I had that bookmarked but I can't find it. I've even tried Googling possible keywords and can't find it.

I honestly don't know what all the fuss is about regarding drone. I love the RPI sound and am glad I went loud. If I had purchased one of the other systems instead, I think I would have always wondered if I would have liked the RPIs better. I figured i would start loud and if I didn't like the RPIs, I could always sell them and get the Stromungs. But sorry everyone... I won't be selling my RPIs!!!

Appreciate the info and opinion on RPI. I'm still trying to decide what exhaust to go with in the spring (or earlier?), and RPI is looking pretty attractive. I also read some people say that just adding a magnaflow muffler did the trick too, for about $200.

If only you could have the opition of no polished tips! M cars don't need them IMO.

My wife absolutely approves... but then she rides a motorcycle and drives a truck!

Same here thankfully.

I did find that after awhile of driving on the highway at a constant speed the drone was annoying. Driving around anywhere else where I'm shifting and having fun driving the sound just adds to the joy of the car.
