1991 300zx (pretty heavily modded)
2003 350Z
2004 Crossfire
2007 Z4C 3.0SI

While the Z4C is my fave, the 300ZX is a close second since it was my first real quality sports car and I have some great memories of the initial feelings that came with the sports car experience.

Only 1, my 2006 3.0i Roadster. It's also the smallest car I've ever owned too.

The previous 30 years were filled with 60s and 70s muscle cars, 4x4s, diesel duallies and semi trucks.

Only 3, but I keep 'em til I kill 'em

'70 240Z (280 motor/Webers, race suspension, absolutely thrashed when I sold it for parts with 200K miles after 9 years)

'91 MR2 - still ran OK when I sold it with 240K miles after 9 years

'07 Z4 Coupe - now at 98K miles and 5 years

This is how I defuse the arguments about getting a "mid-life crisis car". I've been buying the damn things since I was 19.

A few years later, I bought my boss's 3-yr-old '73 240z for $3800, and I was hooked. Later owned a cherry '78 280z that I bought 2 yrs old with ultra-low miles, then a '93 300zx, which I only kept about a year, and I was done. The "new" 350/370z's do NOTHING for me. But in late '06, I fell for the M Coupe, IMHO a spiritual direct descendant of the 240z.

I hear ya'! The S30's have taught me almost all my track/race seat time experiences. Driving the Z4 coupe felt hauntingly similar albeit I'm speaking of a tuned/not stock 240-Z, with coli-overs and Koni adjustables and lots of update mods.
When I was 15, I wanted a Judge gto, my dad said hell no! SO I bought a 73' Dodge Charger brougham.Lowered it and put wide Centerline wheels and tires and a few performance mods.It was the 400 small block. It would prove to never feel as quick and nimble as the Z and was quickly sold.

The Z4 is a very solid platform,love it !

Lots of 240Z memories here.

It brings back memories for me too. My neighbor had one when I was a kid (several years before I could drive), lots of mods, a good number of rides, and it totally captivated me. That and the iconic 911 were really what got my attention, not the muscle cars.

Every now and then I see a really good 240 specimen up for sale, and have to keep myself from buying it. But I don't have the garage space, and these babies need to be cared for. If we had the space, we'd have one, and then Krissi and I would fight over who got to drive it! (She's a big 240Z, and classic British sports car fan.)

Now that I think about it, the Z4 was a natural "go to" car. Why I didn't see that, and buy a Z4 off the bat! I don't know. Duh. At heart, I guess I'm still that kid who wanted the 240Z. That probably explains the very odd attachment I have with my car.

Unbelievable how close that is to what turned my crank growing up.
I actually made friends with a kid in school 'cause his Dad sold Datsuns.

Sisley I went to school with one of his sons too - I would drool over the new 240Z - Light Blue of course! That and early 70's TVR's!

Wow, that's a lot of fun/cool/quick cars. Here's my own set (as best I remember), which includes anything with 2 or fewer doors. There have also been a couple of Audi sedans, a VW Rabbit Diesel (don't ask), my Chevy Malibu station wagon "tow car" for racing, and my current Acura TL.

1964 MG Midget (you try driving one of these when you're 6'6"!)
1968 Fiat 124 Sport Coupe
1973 Mazda RX-2
1963 Porsche 356B
1974 Alfa Romeo Spider 2000
1973 Datsun 240Z
1967 Corvette convertible (327/350)
1981 BMW 320i
1971 Datsun 510 track day car (with 610 SSS engine, 240Z trans and LSD, Mulholland suspension)
1985 SCCA Sports Renault race car
1987 Porsche 944
1989 Toyota Supra
2006 BMW Z4 3.0i

Where did they all end up?? The Z4 is by far the best of the bunch, although the 240Z and 944 had much better interior room, the Alfa had the best steering, and the 'Vette made the nicest sounds...

This is my second German rear wheel drive 2-seater convertible. My previous one was also rear engined and turbo'd. I much prefer the Zed over the smart.

Here's a 64 second shot of that first sports car (TR3). Grainy and over-exposed, my brother-in-law was able to save and convert into a CD what was a fragile super 8 home movie. I was incredibly proud of this Triumph and as such kept it spotless. That's me in '67 - just prior to that evening's high school graduation. The passenger is the kid I walked to school with in 1st grade and is still my business partner today (almost 40 years now). www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_QNsl1jQXc
