polished exhaust tips

I finally got around to uploading photos off my phone and thought I'd share this. I had been looking for some chrome tips that screw over the existing tips as these were looking pretty bad, then i spoke to a buddy of mine who had successfully polished some bits on his bike, so i thought I'd give it a go. I spent quite some time polishing the factory tips on the muffler, probably 30 minutes per tip. Unfortunately i don't have a before shot, but here's one half way through the process.

and here's a finished shot (had to move it inside, mother nature wasn't cooperating)

Used a dremel with a polishing wheel and autosol metal polish and a microfiber cloth combined with a lot of elbow grease. I think it doesn't look too bad, at least until I get an aftermarket exhaust installed.

Wow, that does look great! Nice work! I really like that look way better than chrome! The Eisenmann on the wife's car has a similar look.

It doesn't hurt to occasionally do this with the inside of the //M tips, as they accumulate carbon over time. Gives them a like-new appearance. Did mine a few times with a wire brush, followed by grit and metal polish.

That looks amazing. what did you use? and did u have to take down the exhaust ?

just a dremel to get started and then a microfibre cloth, both with some Autosol metal polish

I agree - great solution, no cost, just as nice as adding tips.

I didn't polish mine quite so far, I simply cut a strip of scotchbrite pad about 1 inch by 5 inches, put a bit of polishing compound on the pad and pulled back and forth on the strip of abrasive for a minute or so. Came out great!
