Anyone know the best way to update the NAV maps and firmware? Is there a huge improvement?

They do have an updated cd, but it still sucks. It doesn't even have "The Loneliest Road in America." That is all I know of.

It adds 3d perspective view and night mode (you have to manually select it). Also, surprisingly, it knows several of the stoplight cameras around my neighborhood now.

The graphics are still pretty basic, especially compared to newer in-car nav systems and even a basic smartphone app. But it's cheaper than the BMW DVD and has some added features over the basic BMW option. Short of major car surgery, this is probably the best update available.

I have the same updated disk (as above). Works, just as described. Haven't been out to highway 50 in Nevada to test it Sean!

I bought the same DVD. It came by mail from Turkey! First thing I noticed is that the nav voice is now a British female. The second thing I noticed is that all of my POI are now in Spanish!

I'm OK with the voice but some of the British directions are humorous: "Take the second turning on the right." Say that with a proper British accident to get an idea. The Spanish POI though are now useless.

That's weird, my POI are still in English. I had forgotten about the british voice being different. I kind of like it, though. I had an old Tom Tom nav unit for my R53 MINI Cooper S back in the day that I downloaded a John Cleese voice file for nav directions. It was pretty awesome. Too bad OEM nav's can't offer the option of different voice files.

Yeah, I have the British female voice as well, but POIs are in English, not Spanish. I'd totally forgotten the accent was there until mentioned, as after watching a lot of British TV over the years I just didn't notice that much.

Wish I could get Brian Blessed's voice, or John Cleese. That would be too awesome.
