I'm going to ask about this, the e90 kit gets you within 15mm (0.5") of stock ride height all the way to slammed.

Every coilover on the market for the Z4M drops about 1" at max height (H&R, GC, etc.). KW V3s drop the least at 0.5" from max. So the drop (if any) should be in that range. I'll get confirmation since I'm hoping for a very modest drop at max height like 10-15mm.

Alright. I tossed, turned and had nightmares with monsters chasing me. I just couldn't out turn them w/o these coilovers. I'll be in as #10 since I won't have funds ready by March-ish. Really want these coilover for the summer sessions.

Of course, if that's ok with beta.

OK guys good news.

The company that must not be named that makes camber plates, does not allow group buys (or vendors to do them). However I still managed to make something happen and we will not talk about it, but it will be great. Only people buying coilovers will be eligible for them, so don't ask and don't talk about it.

For RSMs we will have 2 or 3 choices, a fairly inexpensive option and the TC Klein ones to choose from. Or you can always get the Rogue ones yourself.

Still figuring out all the specs and already put out all the questions to Ohlins, should have a response within a week.

Really interesting!
I wonder if they (Öhlins i USA) will "re-exports" this system to us who live in Sweden, or the rest of the EU for that matter? That would be rather funny because that would show who really run Öhlins cutting edge development (not us swedes)...

One thing I'm interested in hearing more about is spring rates.
In all the reading that I've done, that seams to be the one thing Ohlins goes very conservative with.

I'm asking if there will be an option for those that want to buy without springs, in case you want to go stiffer. We won't know the final rates until testing, but the e46 ones are 350/400.

I can't find it now, but there was a thread where someone asked how stiff they could go without revalving, and ohlins was happy to share that information and it was quite a bit. And you do always have the option of rebuilding to go even stiffer as needed based on your track days.

I'm hoping that since these are a special run, that they will build to the consensus need.

In other words, these aren't a product that will be marketed and available as a Z4M product.
It's a one time thing.

I think most of us are of similar needs, with a dual use application.

I would prefer an engineered solution rather than playing with different springs on a trial & error bassis.

^Agree.

I don't want to over complicate what is a great opportunity, and testing will provide data on the specific dampers and valving. But on the surface, 350/400 seems pretty conservative for a dual use application.

Having recently driven a G/C coilover kit with Swift springs at 560/670, which with dampers set 1/4 from full soft, which was less harsh and better balanced/planted than stock (and with great anti-dive and no pop down/up on heavy braking), it seems for a mixed track/street kit we might want higher spring rates. BTW, I can't tell you how bad it was getting back in my car with the stock suspension after that.

Again, I'm not trying to derail, because this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance (for our car) to get a world-class setup. I just want to make sure the "track" side of the performance spectrum is given enough weight. For my intended use, track weighs more heavily than street. Lastly, data speaks louder than my subjective opinion based on a test drive.

Yeah no worries guys. I made it very clear that this is for dual use, so that we end up with an aggressive street and track tuned setup.

When we were talking about this it came up that a well tuned suspension for aggressive street and track ends up being very similar to what you would do to tune the suspension for something like the ring. There are so many different corners, bumps and elevation changes that you can't go overly stuff. You can only go overly stiff on a perfectly flat surface, which the ring (and the world) is not.

From their website:

Quote:
Despite what other suspension manufacturers may tell you, comfort is king, even when you are trying to set-up a competition machine. Our vast experience on events like the World Rally Championship and Isle of Man TT races has shown us that the fastest drivers and riders are those that aren’t being shaken to bits as they go flat out. The ‘science of compliance’ is a hugely important part of our design work
So trust me we will be getting the best possible suspension. I just wanted to (if possible) leave the possibility out there for those that may want to go stiffer for their particular usage.

yea beta i trust ya too.

i can't wait for more info to come forward.

i also agree that i hope these are a one time run...it just adds to how special the entire package (1/1815 moupes) arqray cans which very few people have and hopefully a one off ohlins suspension kit. i may or may not be an exclusivity snob

i'm also running an APR wing...can the more knowledgeable folks tell me how that would affect what spring rate i run? my oem shocks are probably done for since i installed this wing.

cheers fellas.

Gonna depend a bit on final pricing and final spring rate specs etc. for me, even if it is a once in a life time deal. I did the once in a life time thing with RAC wheels and don't regret it one bit but, money is money and I'll need to see where things end up with this. If you have a tentative list, that would be a good place for me.

This is a real pic of the E46 M3 rear damper.
I would expect we get the exact same damper

With the threaded body, what this damper lets you do is shorten the length.
This allows you to put preload on the rear spring so that when the suspension is at full unloaded travel, the spring still has some pressure on it.
That way the linear springs never flops around & chatters when it becomes unloaded.

I'm VERY happy to see this design.

Thanks for the explanation, I had read that their design had something cool about how the springs are preloaded, but now it makes sense.
