Comos Strut Brace

I just bought the front top Cosmos strut brace, but the hood will not close. I removed the strut bar and left the mounts and the hood closes properly. Has anyone had any similar problems.

I know the picture sucks. I had taken this picture but inside the garage, it was to dark inside. I was going to move the car outside but when the hood wouldn't close, I went and removed the brace.

Looks like hinge design...

if so I'd just return and get the oem piece. Inform that it doesn't fit your car and buy a proper strut brace.

Put some plumbers putty on a couple of spots on the main brace and gently close hood. Repeat a couple of times to try to determine where the contact points are.

Talk with cosmos and see if they can help you fix it.

this is one of the few areas where i think the oem unit is more than enough properly designed, perfect clearances and even clears s.c cars, its a bolt down design so no give at all.... hell it een looks great and is very light.... Bmw did a great job on this piece.
buy that and never look back.

I think they had an intro price of $375, not sure if that's even available anymore.

Hey is that the OEM Strut bar? If it is it looks nice! Can you post the part # for that one? If I order it does it comes with bolts or I have to order that separately also?

Thanks!

I went and ordered mine from Tischer BMW they have a special running right now. BMW oem strut brace is $315.00 I am returning the Cosmos strut brace. They are deducting 15% and I have to pay the shipping. I will sell it to someone else if they want it.
new $245
-15% $36.75
------------------
= $208 shipped

So if anyone wants the brace I will sell it to them the same as Cosmos is returning to me $208 shipped

it is indeed, very light , very strong, perfect fitment and has a bend designed to cumple in a accident to try and limit the damage on the other side of the car.... as its a bmw piece it will be designed and tested properly.... ive had this on my car from new, and its made huge difference to my high power vehicle. i love it.... great addition.

I really enjoyed the factory strut brace... worth its money and does offer better handling in my roadster, in your coupe...maybe not as much, but still offers you pot hole protection as well.

I see you joined this forum recently...if you haven't added to your list of things to add to your car, I suggest Rogue Engineering Tranny mount. I had my mechanic install it and it makes a big improvement.
