I'm old enough to have bought an MGB new, lol! Actually did that in 1974, after my first sports car, a Midget, died on the road. Have owned many MG's since then but gave them all up for the M Roadster. No disappointments whatsoever! Trained as a management accountant, worked in many industries, currently responsible for running a printing company with locations in 3 states with 900 employees.

Hope I am never too old to go without a sports car.

I turned 50 last November. I am an Infectious Disease physician in Omaha, NE. I cover 8 hospitals at various times and do a ton of driving, so I wanted a car I would enjoy driving. I found a black sapphire 2004 3.0 roadster last year and bought it on a whim.

Now the drives between hospitals are the highlight of my day. Thanks to global warming, I can drive with the top down almost any time of the year!

I'm 26 and I am a Wraparound Facilitator for families with children who have severe emotional disorders. I feel a little left field compared to all the other professions mentioned in this thread. >.>

I basically go into all sorts of homes and work with families intensely each week. I stay with each family about 1-2+ years. I work to find out what is good about them and their kids and rebuild it from a strengths based perspective. I work with all sorts of families, but all of my kids have the most severe behavior you can imagine. I fight to keep them in their homes, as opposed to be shut away in mental health hospitals at the tax payers expense.

I can pay my bills and buy a new work polo every now and then. I guess I could do something else and make more money, but I make enough to have my Z4 (which I've loved since my parents bought me a Z3 in college, before they lost their jobs in the recession) and I love what I'm doing.

I could either spend my little disposable money on a lot of pinot noir or a Z4. I chose the car.

I'm 29 work for a marketing company but also have a couple businesses one does web design and development, one sells tires and one sells mattresses. Is 29 too young for a midlife crisis? A red convertible Z4M would say not.

I like that this group has some age. I was at an M3 meet up last weekend. I was by far the oldest of the 50+ that attended not counting the fine gentleman with the 2002 turbo.

Looks like there may be a few more 50+ members than I expected.

52 here, online marketing and media consultant.

My first car was a 1970 Cutlass S. I've had my Z4 for five years this month. I previously had a 2000 Z3.

65 Retired, 9 years in fact. VFW, worked in EMS in the field, on the streets, and in policy/training/administration. Since 1967 owned a '65 triumph spitfire, a '67 3000 Healy, and a "new" '73 240Z Datsun, with a couple regular cars in-between. Fast forward 37 years n the '08 Z4 roadster. Did I mention I was retired? I don't do anything but play golf n drive. I like it!

I'm 27 I work for the Gov in Telecomm but I studied Architectural Technology which I would like to get back into when the right opportunity comes around. Bought my 2004 3.0i for a really good deal as a pre-midlife crisis car, not sure i'll ever be able to afford a new one! Also have a couple of investment properties.

I'm 28 and have a BSME. I used to design end of line electrical and leak testers (ground-up design/build/wire/program), automated equipment, assembly lines, tooling, etc., in a manufacturing facility. I switched positions about a year ago and am now a Senior Quality Engineer. I deal with supplier relations/parts problem resolutions, and also travel to audit their facilities (worldwide).

Seems like there are many in the 25-35 range. I'm surprised. I always thought the crowd was probably more in the 35-50 range. Good to see all the younger ones seem like competent folks and not squids (bike term for those that don't ride, but I feel it similarly applies with this car haha ).

Currently have my z4mc (please donate money for mods), A 250hp turbo mkIV golf gti and just got my wife a new kia sorento suv fully loaded. That thing is pretty nice to drive around...

39, lawyer, working in a non-traditional legal career
I've owned 16 cars so far and the Z4C is my fave so far
My second fave is also a Z, a 1990 300ZX that was nicely modified by the previous owner and a lot of fun.

Good to see a lot of professionals around here rather than a bunch of "I am 17 and bought my M3 with my own money"

25 (turning 26 in a month exactly) and a Project Manager for probably biggest Pharmaceutical corporation out there. I have had a bunch of odd cars (1988 Merc 300E, 1999 Mustang, 2002 Jeep Liberty) but this is the first "nice" car I have owned.

Wow, so pretty diverse group here...that's great to hear!

I never gave my background as the OP - so I'm 36, with wife and 3 yr old daughter. Work as a Manager of a project management office in the big 3 telco's up in Toronto, Canada. Essentially my team does all the big capital builds for our websites, including self-serve stuff. Pretty stressful stuff dealing with multi-million dollar projects but I have fun with it. I have my MBA, CMA (Certified Management Accountant), diploma in computer programming and an Honours B.Sc in Pre med.

As some background, I drove a 92 Camry back in my early 20's and my friends and I all met up and started up a Toronto Camry club (i know, sounds silly). Well, we modded the crap outta them and then two guys started off ToyotaNation.com - 15 years later or so it now has 270K members, about 5000 people online at anytime and is the largest Toyota forum in the world. I played admin for a good 12 years, and got to help mold the forum into what is today. I'm still a supermod at this point, and will be for life.

I did lots of firsts for the 92 Cam, including first cold air intake, first projector angel eyes, modified tails, etc...so quite proud of myself.

As I'm new to this forum, just trying to understand the dynamics of it, how people are etc. We had lots of bashing on the forum in the early days, lots of trolls from the GM forums (jealous of how reliable our cars were lol) and lots of fun. This looks like a solid forum to be at - and I know there's a few others out there but like this the most.

Here's some pics of my current rides...the z4 or 'Sharky" as my daughter calls it is riding on winter rims/tires but I did store for the winter.

Will be 55 in a month. Started off as a geologist for a U.K. firm, and when they closed the Dallas office, oily jobs were few at the time (mid/late 80's) so I decided to retool myself. Boy did I *uck up. lol Got into Software development/database design and I completely burned out about 1 year after I got into it. But it's all I know how to do anymore, so I figure I'm here to stay. Got my PMI certification about 3 years ago, but I hate PM work too. If you can't tell, I HATE the I.T. field. lol I can't believe people actually go to school to learn how to do this. I can only figure that most burn out long before the career comes to a logical end.

First car was an absolutely pristine '67 Mustang Fastback 3 spd with the 289 my dad gave me when I got my license (soph in HS). Back in HS days, the only British or German cars you saw around the school parking lot were real beaters. The cars to have were American muscle. Some of my favorite early rides included that Stang, a Cuda, my SS 396 Chevelle, and a '69 Corvette. First BMW was an '82 320i I bought back in my first oily job after college and to date, it's still the worst car I ever owned. Took me almost 15 years before I returned to the fold. Have had a few since then. One day though, when I grow up, I'm going to get a P-car. Even if it does suck ever last penny out of the bank.
