Radio randomly changing inputs.......
2006 Z4MC with the high-end stereo. I have my ipod hooked up through the dash Aux jack by the ashtray. It has been working fine for monhs. I also have a satellite radio box hooked up through the CD changer input with a Blitz box.
Recently while listening to the ipod, the input will change to satellite on it's own. I change it back to Aux and a few minutes later it goes back to satellite. This just started happening in the last few days. Any ideas?? |

Same here. Sorta. One day when charging my mp3 player from the cig lighter while listening to to it through the Aux In, whenever I would turn on my windshield wipers, it would switch the radio from Aux to FM. When not charginging the mp3 player, no issues.

If it looses the aux input source it will move on the the next input selection.
I have XM in a vent-mount dock hooked to my aux. On rough roads it vibrates out of the dock and suddenly I get the radio. Your problem could just be an intermittent 3.5mm plug. |

Well, I have sort of figured out how to work around this, but I have not figured out the reason for it.
I drive the car to work in the morning when it is not hot outside and I can leave the power connected to the Ipod and it works fine. When I get to work I unplug the charger because if I don't, when I come out later and it is hot outside the Ipod will play for a minute and then the Aux input goes away. I can then unplug the power but it will take a few minutes for the Ipod to play over the stereo. As long as I leave the charger unplugged it works great when it is hot outside. Then I plug the charger back in when I get home. So it is the same problem that Fiberguy mentioned in his post. Not sure if there is anyway around it, but my workaround is successful. |

A PAC Ground Loop Isolator for 3.5 mm Applications will probably fix the problem. It's less than $15.00 and takes about 5 minutes to install.
Before installation, any ambient temp over 80F was causing the AUX input to drop out. It was 105F here today and I had no problems with the radio. The heat was another story..! |

ETA - I always forget about Google, I found one. Now, where to mount it so it is out of the way? Last edited by bluecobra; 07-02-2012 at 10:22 AM. |
