I just ordered a set of 18's from Frank yesterday. I've got new Conti Extreme DW's for the rears and existing Conti SportContacts for the fronts.

I await your review. I heard of finish issues. But I would assume this has been resolved.

I had also heard that there are delivery issues.

Not sure what delivery issues others may have had (certainly out of **********s hands once UPS takes the packages), but I ordered them on a Friday afternoon and received all 4 boxes solidly packaged and safe in 4 days.

I've got 'em mounted and on the car now and they look great. The finish is fine and a quick coat of Wheel Wax on the inside (before I bolted them on) really made them shine up nice. The "rotary forging" process they use does not produce a 100% perfect product though. Inspecting the wheel at a very close distance (1 foot away) you can notice inconsistencies. For the price and weight though I think they are a great deal! I spent 12 years fooling around with Miata's, which are real sensitive to wheel weight. Losing 5 lbs per corner over OEM wheels with the Sportlines makes a noticeable difference in ride quality on rough road surfaces. Great service from **********s and they were packed very well (dual boxed).

Now all I need to do is put on another 400 miles and I'll be rid of the mold release agent on the new rears and ready to rock!

Wow, what a needy bunch

More Pics later (still in bed). Here are specs: Doing the calculation in my head, the outside edge of the Sportlines are about 1/2 inch further out than the OEM's (1/4" gained from the rim width and approx. another 1/4" gained from the offset).

Where did you get the OEM wheel weights? I weighed mine myself and got closer to 29 lbs for the rear.

Wheel weights were from a post from Ron Stygar. He usually seems very accurate and the weights were similar to other posts.

He's definitely an expert and knows his stuff. I ask because those weights sound similar to what I remember BMW publishing. I weighed my OEM wheels and got 24-25 lbs front and ~29 lbs rear, but I wouldn't be my life on the accuracy of the scale. I weighed myself, and then myself holding the wheels (an old camping trick, since some scales tend to be inaccurate below 20 or 30 lbs). Both ARC-8's I weighed were 18-19 lbs each... which jive with the weights Apex posts.

Thanks for the info and pictures! As soon as I finish up a little work on my 3.0i I'll add my pics to this thread as well.

Well, I went to the Michelin site & Tire Rack site and found the reported weight for my Pilot Alpin 3's that I have mounted to my OEM rims. Then I went into the basement armed with my handheld suitcase scale (can't risk going over 50lbs these days). Lo and behold, here's what I found:

Front Tire & Rim Weight: 49.7 lbs (measured)
Front Tire Weight: 21.5 lbs (per Michelin web specs & Tire Rack)
Front Rim Weight: 28.2 lbs (calculated)

Rear Tire & Rim Weight: 53.0 lbs (measured)
Rear Tire Weight: 23.4 lbs (per Michelin web specs & Tire Rack)
Rear Rim Weight: 29.6 lbs (calculated)

The reported-on-forum rim weights (24.75, 25.88) may not include the TPMS, balancing weights and center cap but that sure doesn't make up the 4 lbs difference between what I've observed. Hmmm.... Too bad I didn't weigh the Sportlines & Conti's before I put them on the car. Oh well.

Here are some more pics. Some outdoors from yesterday, some indoors today.

Am I getting ripped off by the stealership?

Hey folks,

So I purchased a new set of Sportline CS16 CSL reps from ModBargins and Michelin Pilot SuperSports for my 2007 non-M Z4 coupe and went to BMW Seattle to have them put on. The service advisor initially quoted me $120 for mounting, balancing, etc. for all 4 tires. I also made sure to tell him that I needed the TPMS sensors transferred over prior to the quote. After coming home, I got a call from him saying that because of some differences in the new rims compared to the stock OEM rims (style 201, 17's), they would need to charge me another $300 to swap the TPMS (parts $88, labor about $200)!!

Has anyone had this experience? I've never swapped TPMS sensors before but I'm thinking it can't be that difficult or labor intensive. 2 hrs of labor?? Sounds like BS and feels like I'm getting ripped off. Prior to buying the rims, I was told by the Frank at ModBargins that the TPMS would be a direct swap. Any advice would be appreciated especially from the ModBargins crew. I'll post a full review of the new rims once I get the car back. Thanks
