Thanks guys!
2700 km later, I am back from Halifax with my Z4MC. I live in Montreal, Qc so I had to cross New Brunswick and Nova Scotia to pick up the car. Road condition were not the best. I did all the trip alone, so about 10-12 hours per day, let say the X5 was thirsty: 17L/100km to go and 23L/100km on my way home. And this is with a aluminum Trailex that weight only 900lbs... There was a lot of fog on the Cobequid passage in Nova Scotia, I can't see more than 100m up front... I also hit a big snowstorm between Fredericton et Edmunston, it took me 2 hours more than it was supposed to be. I wasn't able to go over 90km/h. As soon as I hit the brake, ABS was activated and wheels would blocked. A lot of stress when you pull a trailer / 5000lbs of charge on mountain road... Everything was so dirty when I came back, I won't post pics Wayne cause you might have a heart attack! I spent the entire day yesterday to clean up the trailer, X5 and Z4MC with the washing pressure machine. I went for a spin with the car and the ESS kit is really addictive. Can't wait for summer now! |

Fantastic!!!!
I've done that drive several times, a couple with RV trailer and one time in the M Coupe. It's a fun drive in good conditions but that must have been an exhausting/nervous drive pulling a trailer in those conditions.

My X5 is equip with the OEM 20'' style 214 with Nokian winter tires. But they are 275/40r20 each corners, they don't go too well in snow when they have 3 winters on them... I also had to stopped couple of time during the snow storm to make sure the radiator and oil coolers were not block with pack snow/slush. I overheated my first S54 e46 M3 in those kind of condition back in 2008. The auxiliary fan was pack with snow with only 1 hour of driving in that kind of weather. It cost me a fan, the engine was correct even if oem temperature gauge were in the red zone... |
