Reverse HID lights

Does anyone have this?

Im wondering if I am the only Z with this cuz I looked everywhere and all I heard was: "it cant be done" but yeah I just got it done....they went past the 15 minute marker without melting too much of the housing. which basically means it should work fine for under 2 minutes worth of usage while backing up at any given time. And for those of you with people who like to tailgate you can wire it to a pressure switch to activate them as you blind the idiot behind you. :-)

if anyone is interested in this mod let me know

It's not worth the risk of melting something. Add a swiitch to turn it off in case you ever need to reverse with cops around.

the point is it doesnt melt anything, and ONLY activates when you put it in reverse....HOWEVER you could wire it to a push button as well to activate them even while moving foward

Nice idea, and where you live, very intermittent use should not be an issue. One thing to keep in the back of your head is if you just happen to be someplace that is not flat, like on a hill and require the use of some type of brake to keep the car stopped, unless you actively think about it, you would forget and then you will have issues. You would have to use the e-brake most likely...

What do you mean? I always put the car in 1st with the ebrake on. Do you sometimes put it in reverse for some reason?

When on a hill, I never use the ebrake. Never taught to use it when I was a kid.
Just fast feet when I have to move off when on a hill. Plus these cars have 'hill hold' feature that works rather well.

If you are on a hill and have to use the brakes to hold you in place until you have to drive off, then unless you think about it then you could have a unaccepable buildup of heat from the HID.

That is what I meant by extended brake use. I did not mean parking the car.

It is just something to keep in mind when in that scenario.

So I do find myself looking for a brighter backup solution as well but not as extreme as OP. What else do you guys suggest?
