Taking longer than usual to crank up.

Hi all,

This is the first time I'm experiencing this on a car.

My car is taking longer than usual to crank up (takes i guess a perceived 1 to 1.5 second longer to crank up). My battery is fine (i have a meter at normal levels) and replaced about 6 months back.

Is there anyone else who's experienced this? What other potential issues might there be? Thanks in advance.

How often do you start/drive your car. If it's not often, you probably need to turn the car to acc and let the fuel pump prime. I notice that if I don't start it every 3-4 days, it takes a long time to crank and the rpms will dip heavily under startup and then be fine.

I drive it everyday - just did another search on the forums and found some answers but are similiar to yours. I'll try your method later!

This is a fairly common issue.
They may be hard to find, but there are other posts about this.

The general consensus is that it's fuel related.
Some get this when using a particular brand of gas.

I had the same thing happen with my coupe. Dealership ended up replacing the crank position sensor. I hope this helps!

I had this problem when I owned my Z3M. The consensus from the forums seemed to be that this was a normal occurence. Not sure it applies to the Z4M, as I have not experienced it with mine. At least not yet.
