Hey guys, so I bought SS Race mufflers (mufflers-only) and was planning on installing over the weekend. However, after having taken a closer gander, I'm worried that I might actually need the x-pipe in order to install these
![]() Cuz the stock setup uses flanges, and the SS mufflers don't have any. I'm assuming they use clamps? Well, the seller didn't provide me clamps, so I don't know what to do to secure the piping together into section 2(?). The end of section 2 also has a little lip to it, where air might leak out? Sigh...should've gotten the x-pipe ![]() Can anyone chime in on this? Last edited by mfanatic325; 09-18-2010 at 12:11 AM. |

What the...really? hmm...well perhaps the ones I bought were from a "full kit", where SS sent the mufflers AND the x-pipe together, in which case the mufflers are supposed to slide/sleeve over the x-pipe (section 2 portion), and then clamps are used to tighten them?
edit: did you keep the stock section2? Or did you get the x-pipe as well? Last edited by mfanatic325; 09-18-2010 at 01:23 AM. |

Well what I offered you will solve that. only thing is I need other 2 or 3 weeks for that, and I will send you pictures.
FYI: Section 1 = S pipe or middle section Section 2 = X-pipe

Ah cool yeah, I'll wait for those pix. Yeah, I thought that was the case. Good thing I got the sections correct in my head to begin with
![]() Right now, I'm just having a mis-match issue in terms of trying to fit the SS Race mufflers' "sleeve" style to the OEM section2's "flange" style. Mainly because I can't re-use the flanges from the OEM mufflers, and also the fact that OEM section2 has a flared lip (like a trumpet), whereas the SS Race's sleeve doesn't have such a lip. |
