Staggered 19s on 2003 3.0 Sport, UPDATE

OK, so I went ahead and ordered the Staggered 19" M6 Reps. Although it took over a month and a half to get them (company had to wait for a shipment from the manufacturer), it was WELL WORTH THE WAIT... here are the specs:

2003 Z4 3.0i Sports Package

Front: 19x8.5 +35 offset with 235/35/19
Rear: 19x9.5 +40 offset with 265/30/19

It's amazing - my car turns more heads now than I ever would have imagined. In addition to the heads it turns... I now have Corvettes, Evos, and those pesky AMG crossfires revving next to me on the highway to see what I've got... and that's just from 3 days of driving! I'll post some before and after shots... for the after shots, I apolgize for the lack of brightness (sun was going down) but darker pics are better than no pics!

before

AND NOW AFTERRRR

Thick rears...

They don't stick out from the tops of fenders

They are close to the top of the front fender, but they don't rub

sitting pretty, and I don't believe I need to drop anymore than what the Sport suspension has it currently.

Let me know what you all think... I know M6 reps get a bad wrap (sometimes) on these forums, but I think it works very well on the black on black color scheme, being that they are gunmetal/silver and not all silver. Oh and my brother says it resembles a Plymouth Prowler... which I don't mind so much being it is so exotic.

I'll post some more pics when I get sunnier pics!

Props to www.**********s.com (Ivan) who are the nicest and most professional people I've ever dealt with when it comes to after market car supplies.

Thanks,
eggs

looking good... the fronts will probably rub a little if you hit a bump/dip on the fwy/hwy

That's what I don't get... I didn't rub when I was going 70mph on a highway and went over a dip. But we'll see, I didn't hit anything huge or anything. But I usually travel locally, so I know where all the gullies and such are.

It shouldn't make that much of a difference b/c I went larger on the wheel size, albeit smaller on the tire size.

18x7.5 on 225/40/18
to
19x8.5 on 255/35/19

But, I guess 5 milimeters less on the tires don't quite offset 1 inch (or 25 millimeters) on the rim.

i usually only notice a rub around 80+ mph on a dip/bump

I like it but you need to get a BBK now... I hate the look of the small back brakes...

Looks great. I'm considering getting 19" M6's myself.
One question:
Most of the other posts I've read have recommended 8.5" fronts with 235 tires. Why did you decide to go with 255's on the front? Would using 235's reduce the likelihood of rubbing?

Nice Ride, Nice touch.
What did you do with the 3.0 18's?

Actually I did go with 235s in the front and 265 in the rear... I constantly seem to fat-finger tire sizes. My bad.

I would recommend these M6 reps, in 19s. They look incredible up close and personal.

TomC,
The old 18s are sitting in my garage in the boxes that my 19s came in... cleaned up and ready for you to make me an offer for them. Each have 75% tread left in the Dunlop run-flat tires (the tires that cost $400+/each). There's a little curbing (about 4 inches) on the front driver side wheel and a tad on another (1 inch). The other 2 are flawless.

I live in Limerick so it's not that far of a drive from Lancaster.

Wider than spec tires?

I've been shopping, seems they spec 225 for 8.5" and 255 for 9.5", but I see you have 235 and 265 respectively.

Is this common to overwidth the tire to the rim?

Are there drawbacks/advantages?

I've picked out wheels (same size), but because of your post I'm wondering if I should consider different sizes?

TIA,
mvious

mvious,
**********s told me that after fitting many z4 with the rims I purchased, the tire specs on the rims i purchased (19" x 8.5" offset ET 35 front and 19" x 9.5" offset ET 40 rear) were fine, although the "safe advisement" was for 225/35/19 front and 255/30/19. I asked if my wheel/tire was considered unsafe, and they said none had any problems, except one person in the past 2 years (they assumed that BMW was perhaps in an accident and maybe had axle problems). This is exactly was what written on my invoice regarding the tires:

"Typical tire advisement Before - 235/35/19 & 265/30/19
Safe advisement - 225/35/19 & 255/30/19
(General Exclaim UHP personal recommendation for street tires)"

Call **********s (714-582-3330), and ask for Ivan. He will tell you all you need to know about how the thicker tires are ok.

I haven't had any problems on my 3.0i Sport... not even rubbing. And the thicker tires just make it look mean. I think the Dodge Viper only has an inch on me in the rears!

I'll post some more pics when the sun returns to the NE.

Thanks,
eggs

I'm Thinking about it. The wheels on my ride are nice, but the 18's w/triple chrome plating would be nice!

Perhaps You Should Read The Earlier Posts When He Mentioned That They Were Sitting In His Garage And He's Now Entertaining Offers. Oh Yea He Also Mentioned The Condition Of The Wheels.

Dubbedown is correct. The rims are still available for sale. And, since this thread has been somewhat resurrected, I'll post pictures of said available rims tonight.

And yes, they're still in the boxes in which the 19s came in.
