Great customer service. 30 day return policy and if you exchange for a different color they ship the replacement for free.
How are the strips and connections holding up so far? Just ordered the same one and will be installing it in a couple months when I get back home.

Mine is holding up just fine. For the last few weeks my car has been parked all afternoon in the hot sun and the adhesive hasn't softened or caused the strip to come loose.

My brother-in-law just saw the lights for the first time when I had to get something out of my trunk at night and he was pretty impressed!

Good to hear. My strip is sitting at my parents' house waiting to be installed. Unfortunately I still have 20+ days to go before I'm back. This is only one of a handfull of mods I'm doing in the little bit of time I get to see my car this year. Can't wait!

I assume that you're military and stationed in Germany?

We did Euro Delivery on my wife's 335is Coupe in 2011 and we can't wait to go back there again, the next time for my 201x M4 Coupe! My profile pic is me standing in front of my wife's car with Schloss Neuschwanstein in the background (edit: since changed).

Edited to add: We did another Euro Delivery in May 2016 for my M4 Coupe. My profile pic is currently a shot of my M4 at Circuit Park Zandvoort in The Netherlands.

Yup, stationed here. I've done Neuschwanstein twice and it is very beautiful. I would love to do the ED if I ever buy a German car new. I've already seen the Porsche and Mercedes plant/museums and will be seeing BMW's at the end of the month before I come home.

During our ED we toured the the BMW Museum (and of course, the BMW Welt), the BMW Munich Plant, the BMW Dingolfing Plant, the Mercedes Sindelfingen Plant, the Mercedes Museum in Stuttgart, and the Porsche Factory and the Porsche Museum in Zuffenhausen. My wife actually said "Let's make it all about cars!"

Sadly, we got a flat tire in Trier on a Saturday afternoon, the day before we were supposed to drive the Nurburgring Nordschleife. As you know, no way to replace the tire until Monday morning, and we missed our Sunday Touristenfahrten. One of the reasons why we have to go back!

The super bright white LEDs arent to my taste, but I like the idea of the mod.

But I have to ask, why dont you route the wire behind the carpet and make for a clean install? Also can you not tuck the LED strip a little farther back so its out of your line of sight?

Did it today and I really like it!

It actually serves a purpose, so I would say it's less "Fast and Furious" and more "Tool Time".
"It needed more POWER! SO I REWIRED IT!. OO! OO! OO!"

I extended the wires, covered them in "corrugated loom", (which I now have a lifetime supply of), and attached the base from a broken eBay LED.

Ran the wires behind the carpet and plugged into the existing socket from behind.
The quality of the LED strip looks top-notch.

StickMon, that looks great. Totally useful. I need to get on the ball and do that. One of these days.

superbrightleds.com WFLS-NW60-BK

Select Strip Finish: Black
Select Color: Natural White
Select Length : 100cm(39.3in)

Has its own adhesive strip. Just peel and stick.
Mine's seen several 100° + days. Could have baked a turkey in the trunk.
Still stuck. All 60 LEDs still lighting bright.

Nice, ordering now. I'll have to find a connector somewhere. Are you saying you used that connector to plug it into the back of the truck light socket?

Plugs in in place of the existing bulb, with the wires entering the existing fixture from behind, under the carpet.

It's the base from a $2 eBay tower LED replacement bulb that broke.
Really just a plastic piece shaped like a W5W/194 base.
It needed wires stuck through the holes and folded over, so I used a high value (ohmic, not monetary) 1/4 W carbon film resistor.
Soldered the wires from the LED to the resistor close to the body, then bent the leads down, stuck them through the plastic base, trimmed and folded.

Ooooh I get it now. So you are losing the stock light but since it does jacksh!t anyhow, that's an excellent trade off.

Would this work for the connector?

I just wrapped the wires around the existing connector. At some point I'm going to order something like that so I can clean it up. Also still really happy with this mod, trunk is nice and bright now.

this is were I attached the light. Definitely an awesome and cheap mod more than worth the money. I should have taken a photo of the connector, but when you look at the way the stock bulb is mounted there are a couple holes in the metal. I put the wires through the holes and wrapped them around their side of the bulb mount. Left the stock bulb in place too.

You got it!
Once the LEDs are in there you couldn't tell if the stock light was lit or not.
That should work fine for the connector.
That plastic base is similar to the way those darn little XMAS lights are.
Leads go through 2 holes in the plastic and fold over.

Here is my installation...works so much better than the stock light.

I did not use a connector, but rather wrapped the wires to the bulb casing as someone had mentioned. Real clean fit if you take your time and ensure there is not excessive bare wire after.

I needed to add some additional wire (small gauge 16 or 18 will work) to lengthen the end leads (solder and tape), I then ensured the wires I used were neatly tucked behind the trunk mat.

The OEM light still lights up as well, although like others have said...basically useless.

This is one mod I am really happy with. It provides excellent lighting to the entire trunk.

Many thanks for the info shared here. I'm not very technically inclined, but I was able to install the LED kit described in the OP in a few minutes last night. Once I loosened the trunk light module it was easy to wrap the wires from the LED to the terminals and it just worked. Then I was able to attach it to the top of the trunk and run the wire behind the carpet.

Thank you very much again.
