switching steering wheel airbag removal danger?

Hi guys, I've purchased a new M sport wheel and was curious just how big a danger is it to remove the airbag? I know to disconnect the battery for about 20 minutes before hand. Watched a video or two. Should I be standing to side when I do this lol?

Its safe as long as the battery is disconnected.

Had my steering wheel off several times.
Hardest part is catching the 2 springs just right to release the air bag/wheel centre.

Happy to say that no explosions occurred. Very easy to switch out.

Yeah it freaks you out the first time you do it knowing how explosive that thing is, but I have done it twice already and I was fine. I leave my battery disconnected for 30 minutes before I touch it because I'm paranoid.
