CSL Carbon airbox - Where to buy? or one like

I just picked up a Z4M. I love the car but it needs more sound. Im loving the videos im seeing of the CSL intakes on the z4m.

Q's

Where can I buy this?

Will the E46 intakes fit the Z4m?

Will any cold air intake deliver the same noice? Opinions on Eventuri?

Evolve - own design, high quality
http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthre...ghlight=airbox

Karbonius - oem replica, high quality
http://www.karbonius.es/web_ing/prod.../base_bmw.html

Geoff Steele - oem replica, good quality
https://www.geoffsteel.co.uk/shop/e4...t-breathers-3/

I have an Eventuri, nice bit of kit. I don't think I can hear it at all though over the headers and exhaust upgrades. Think it made throttle response a little better. Overall good quality and looks pretty. Worth it compared to the others out there.

Another option is GruppeM that you have to check.

If you can handle the cost do it. I have the Karbonius. You will have faster response from them if you go to their Facebook page for order. Also if you need more info about the Karbonius let me know if I can help.

I have one of the Evolve units. They appear to be exceptionally well made. Mine still isn't installed... but that's another thread.

Worth looking for one that reaches to the Z4 cold air feed through the slam panel. You avoid sucking in hot engine bay air then and faffing around trying to link the m3 version. And yes, the noise is worth it, they should have come like this.

What additional hardware is required to make your Karbonius work? I am coming across threads for M3s discussing MAP sensor mods, splicing wiring, and some crazy ones like DME swaps. Did you order for your z4 or did you order an m3 one form them to which to had to shave or modify the airbox to fit.

Same questions here - this will be my next mod too.

Is this yours? Can you share what brand is this? Where to buy?

Likely ALFA N, which requires it's own tune. Most tuners (Epic, TTFS and BPC) should have the tune down pact.

I wouldn't pay all that money for sound though - power yes.

The Evolve airbox comes with their alpha-n tune. It's good for ~25HP - and the sound is a free bonus.

E90PAT and Rockstart93 hello. Assuming that you have a Z4M if you decide to go with the Karbonius, the additional parts that you will need are the following:
CSL Crank Case Vent Hose 11157833649
CSL Airbox Air Shut Off Valve 11617833647
6 x Clamps 59 - 66mm - 07129952125
OEM CSL filter 13727838625
CSL IAT Sensor 13621739510
Karbonius Snorkel - £300 (optional - I do not have it)

Tuning - you must have Alpha N tune to make the Karbonius work with the car. Tuning is the most important part so choose wisely. Known tuners are Epic Motorsports (my selection), TTFS (I do not have opinion about them but I guess it is a good choice if later on you want to go the SC way), Evolve, ESS.

The car after the Karbonius and the tune pulls stronger. But the best part of the CSL intake is the sound... You can have a look here:

Is the tune really required? What happens with out it? Is this something I can install myself, or is it limited shops that can do this?

I agree, 25HP increase is marketing BS.

If you don't buy the tune the car will try to read the MAF sensor. The car will not be connected with the MAF. The tune is necessary since Alpha N tune "deletes" MAF. I hope I am saying it correct, so if I made any mistakes, please correct me.

You can install the tune yourself, it is not something special, as long as you have a battery charger , because to load the tune makes more than one hour and the last thing you want to happen to you is to die the battery while uploading the tune. Also you will need a laptop with Windows.

Vanne has written a guide about how to do the whole installation by yourself also for the Airbox. It has helped me a lot.

Vanne and inTgr8r are right. If you want the noise you are ok.

Having RPI and other exhaust mods, I doubt even a CSL air box will be heard. What’s the power gain difference between an air box versus say... Eventuri?

I had a Gruppe M prior to having an Evolve box + MAFless tune.

I can definitely feel an increase in power at 4 - 5k in the Evolve compared to having the Gruppe M.

No dyno numbers to reference but there's definitely some gains.

I would do ARH before I’d do an airbox.
