Z4M with N54 TT engine possible?

I've been toying with the idea of selling the GTO and getting into one of these. While I like the S54, and it's a great engine.....if BMW came out with a Z4M coupe with the 335i's TT 6 I would probably jump all over it. From a tuner's standpoint, that would just be SWEET.

Anyone have any feelings to add to this, or any knowledge of BMW having plans to fit the Z4 with such an engine ini the future?

IIRC, the Motorsport division has strong feelings on the matter of forced induction and have said there will never been a supercharged or turbocharged M car. Any Z4 with the N54 would have to be a non-M.

That said, while I'd also be all over a Z4 coupe with the N54, I don't see it happening given the slow sales of the Z4 line and its imminent replacement. I feel it so strongly that I'm pretty close to snagging a M Coupe. Prices are dipping to the high-30s/low 40s, and I expect prices to settle there once production ends.

Understood. I had also heard the same thing regarding forced induction/M cars. I wasn't aware until I started surfing on this site that sales are so slow. Why do you think that is, and do you think BMW is going to come out with a replacement roadster/coupe...or discontinue the Z line all together?

I wouldn't mind picking up an M coupe either...just not sure if I could stand to drive a car that small on a pretty much daily basis. Hmmmm....thanks for the response anyway...I appreciate it!

I'm waiting a bit longer for the prices to drop more in the mid-high 30's...

There will be a Z4 replace sooner or later, but we have another year or two (maybe three) before production stops.

Its not far from that now. I just picked up a 07 Z4mc with Nav for 39,000. It was a demo with 1500 miles on the car. Still to hard to pass up!!!

If history tells us anything the N54 will probably be in the next generation of Z roadsters and replace the M54.

A few years after that, there will be a new M Coupe/Roadster with the M3's V8.

Hmm, I'm not sure the other poster was insisting on a brand new car at that price, just the price range. I agree we won't see BMW dealers dropping to those levels. We'll see them auction them off to other dealers with practically no miles, which is what's happening now. There's an Imola Red M Coupe in Ohio for $39k OBO, the black/light Sepang car I mention in another thread has 100 miles on it, and another black/black Z4MC near me has just 33 miles. M Roadsters are already in the mid-30s thanks to the cooler temperatures.

The trick will be to snag one of these before the geenral public catches on to the fact that you can get a "practically" new car rivalling a 911 Carrera for about $40k - which is less than a new (or even "practically" new) Cayman S.

They seem pretty cheap in Florida already. Mercedes-Benz of Miami has a Silver Gray/Black car with 4000 miles on it that I suspect they'd take high 30s for. It hasn't sold on eBay a couple of times with a BIN of $41k, and the last auction they lowered the reserve. Capital Eurocars in Talahassee has a Interlagos Blue/Black car with 31 miles on eBay as well.

ooo, thanks for the look out epbrown... I'll check them out, but I may have seen them since I've checked nearly all car selling sites lol... They may have not have the options i'm looking for which is pretty much the navi. With the 08 coming out i would think the price for the 06-07 might go down around grand or two no?

I looked at several new Z4M coupes. All could be had for around 12k off sticker. I ended up going with the demo because it was 18k off the sticker price on the car. I saw a lot of adds for private sales on used vehicles and everyone is asking in the high 40's. I don't think most private owners have realized that BMW has cut the price of the car. A normal used Z with 10 or 15k miles on the clock is not likely to command above 40k. It may be possible to find one now in the mid 30's.

Try this Autotrader link for starters. The Miami cars mentioned are the 2nd and 3rd from the bottom. The Imola Red M Coupe in Ohio listed for $38,998 appears to have been sold. There another for sale in Chicago for $40k, but it's at the infamous Luxury motors dealership.

Thanks! Care to elaborate on that dealership/stealership? Must be something I don't know about. DAMN.....what a great deal! 38.9 for a new one.

I walked into a place in Florida...guy took 14000 off the car after I asked to take it for a drive Too bad I was on vacation and didn't feel like driving back the 15 hrs!!!

He also tacked on a $600.00 doc fee, .0002 rate bump, $200 aquisition markup, $400 tag fee (tags are only $80-+ here in VA) - but I'm sure if I had wanted to drive the car home we could have came to an aggreement.
