Leatherique/Plastic Bag Warning!
This forum seems to have the most info about Leatherique so I'm putting this here.
I used Leatherique for the first time today and covered everything up with plastic bags to sit the for the day. Everything went great right up until on the last bolster I was cleaning tonight. I noticed black lettering that had been left behind from some ink that I didn't notice on the plastic bag. I can't get it to come off. I went at it with the cleaner and my Swissvax brush for awhile but it made no difference. The only thing I could think to do was reapply the rejuvenator to the area to sit overnight and hope it lifts the ink out since Leatherique claims to lift dirt, etc. from the seats. Anyone have any ideas? Oh...the warning is to check your plastic bags for ink if you're gonna use them for this!!!

Oh that sounds sickening. I wasn't sure whether to respond or not because I don't have any advice. I didn't want to get your hopes up. But I do want to thank you for putting that warning out! I have the Leatherique stuff but have not gotten around to doing this yet. The few warm days we have had here, I have been motoring around. Now I am wondering and semi-worried about using the big green trash bags. With all the smart people out here, I hope someone comes up with a viable solution for you.

Garbage bag use is completely optional. I've done my seats both covered and non-covered for ~10hrs in the sunlight. I didn't end up noticing a difference between both methods.

Yeah, I think the trash bags help keep it from running down the seat a little but they aren't necessary which is why I'm so disappointed about what happened. I've had horrible luck lately getting simple things done without them turning into disasters. I'll see what it looks like in the morning but I'm not optimistic that the Rejuvenator will help. I was going to go for a nice long drive tomorrow but I think I may need to call some cleaners asap instead.

Give leatherique a call man. I know sanding/re-dying sounds daunting and scary, but go watch a couple youtube vids on it and you'll realize that it can be done quite easily and make the seat look brand new. GOOD LUCK!

I've never tried it, but I do know that there are leather kits that can be used to remove or absorb dye out of the seat. It might be worth trying before sanding and repainting a section.
http://www.autogeek.net/leather-mast...r-remover.html I recently tried a different technique for cleaning and conditioning the leather and I was pretty happy with how it turned out. I was just using a brush, the cleaner and a microfiber cloth to wipe it off. Took about 1.5 hours to do both seats, but I'm pretty slow. Cleaned Drivers seat (not yet conditioned) 50/50 of passengers seat. You can see the oils removed on the right side. I was using the Ammo products, following this tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtkDG6pNkI4 Hopefully this helps a bit.

Thanks for the tip, Jim. I'll look into it.
I called Leatherique this morning and left a message but didn't hear anything back. I decided to take a nice long drive instead of fretting about this. It'll get fixed one way or another and isn't the end of the world even if it doesn't.
