Rev motoring silicone boot n52

Hi all, I've been looking to purchase the Rev motoring boot for my n52 z4 but while cleaning my airbox I noticed the 328 n52 intake is different than ours:

Ours has a tube going to the "sound conducting medium" bottom diagram vs top

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=13_1173

Has anyone installed the boot? Is it okay to just leave that part opened?

Thanks

The Rev motoring part appears to be intended to increase intake sound by removing the sound reduction stuff. N52 Z4s (3.0si at least) have a sound tube connecting to the firewall that transmits intake noise to the interior. If you want more intake sound, take that tube out and remove the foam pieces inside it. Presto.

I'm looking for better flow. Which should be achieved by taking out the silencer. But the piece used to bring sound through the firewall would be flapping in the breeze so to speak. Is that a problem?

I have a custom silicone coupler from the airbox to the throttle body. I have that sound generator tube just ziptied to one of the lines near it. I havent lost it or ran into any issues. Or you can even delete the tube/gasket and get the firewall plug #13747514866.

I had the Rev Motorsport tube for my 328 and tried putting it on my Z when I sold the 3 series. Doesn't fit. I never really noticed a power increase with it but it did seem to help throttle response. One of those "why not" mods in my opinion.

Cut off the silencer for the same effect. It was worth about 2whp.

I have a AFE intake tube modified to fit onto a cheap $ silicon tube mated up to my stock airbox. Yes the in car sound changed alot, because i deleted my intake boot/sound generator tubes. Less in car noise, but more outside engine induction noise with this setup

These guys have everything you'd ever need in silicone. Hoses and fittings half way down the page.
