Why are some Z4 headlights black and others silver?
Why are some Z4 headlights black and others silver? Is it because one is halgen and the other is xenon? Or is it because one is on a 2.5 (since the grills are black) and the other on a 3.0 (since the grills are gray/silver)?? Just wondering...

I've never seen black headlights on any car...I guess I'm a little confused by the question

I am all too familiar with this. I broke a headlight on my 04 3.0i last summer. My SA told me that they were $600 + labor. He recommended eBay. He told me only to make sure I got a xenon and not halogen. So I bought one for $150. After installing it, I saw that the replacement was black, my originals were silver. When I traded the car in, I pointed it out to salesperson; he didn't care. Whoever buys that car is in for an unpleasant surprise.

I think it depends on the vehicle colour too. I dunno if it would look good on Imola Red... But on a Black or Blue Zed, well... that would be sick.

These trim differences date back to at least the E46 3 series.
. 325's = black headlight housings, lower grille, and side window trim. 330's = silver headlights and lower grille, chrome side window trim. |
