No!!! First Dent!!!

Ok, this is probably over reacting, but I caused the first dent on my Z!!! My garage door is busted and I've been waiting the past month for the garage door installer to come and replace the garage. Tonight, I was really tired coming home from work and I instinctively pressed the garage door button. The garage door started coming down, broke even more and piece of the frame broke off and nailed the trunk of my Z. Here's the pic. How much to get this dent fixed? Should I even bother??? I'm probably over acting and acting childish but growing up, we never had much so when I buy something, I take care it. Even my 2002 Civic looks brand new. Now with a dent on my Z (growing up I never thought I'd even own a car like this), it really bothers me.

Fix or don't fix? If so, how much approximately?

Is that the top part right part after the soft top? Paintless dent repair is the only way I would go if they have access to it. If you find a veteran at it... you will never notice it was there granted there are no damages to the paint.

PDR is about $75 to $150 per panel...depending on who you go to... and how they charge...per panel or per ding. I would have a deep pains if that happen to my car. It happen to my truck when I had it...and that would hurt...would bug me for a while if happen to my car. I say fix...it's not that expensive and if you don't...you will always see it and it would always remind you...at least it would for me.

The issue with your ding is whether it's easy to access or you may need to remove it or have them remove it and charge you extra for labor. Good luck.

P.s. If you were in SoCal I would have a recommendation for you...but not on the East Coast. At least you know the price range.

^agree! PDR is the way to go; I had some dents removed like that from one of my vehicles and you could never tell it was there, but you DO need to find a veteran .... cost me $100.

They should be able to get to that area from underneath (just after the soft top connection point) without too much issue

If you keep it, the next one won't hurt quite as bad.

Thanks for the advice! I'll look for PDR in the area. If they think they can't do it, where can I find the part number so I can replace that piece?

might run you around 50-80 dollars. Just live with the dent for now until you get a bunch then you can bargain a deal for all the dents

Ouch! I agree with imom. When you wash your car, your heart is going to sink and you will kick yourself every time you get to that spot until you do get it fixed.

However, I must admit that when I read the thread headline, I thought it was going to be much worse.

You're right. That's why right now I'm looking to buy an Aero Bumper and awaiting on a reply from getbmwparts.com if they have that part available. It's probably cheaper just to buy the part, get that and the bumper painted and installed at the same time. The aero bumper is available for years >2005 with fog lights for an extra $180. I figure I'll buy these, keep them until spring, have them installed at the same time I buy my new rims and tires.
