Custom wheel manufacturers?
I'm in the market for a set of wheels for the roadster, but I just cant find anything exactly the way I want them. I absolutely love the Morr VS8.2 for several reasons that set them apart from other CSL reps, but there are still parts of it I just dont care for and would bug me if I bought them. The VMR VB3 and V710 are also very nice, but still have some stylings I would like to refine to my taste. Does anyone know of any companies that will make custom 1-off wheels? I know it would be pricey, but to get exactly what I want might be worth it.

I don't know of any off hand, but i deal with CNC machining a fair bit through work. There's a lot of labour involved in the design and CNC programming so you'll definitely want to find someone who does this regularly. I'd imagine the cost to be in the tens of thousands for a set of 4. Call one of the big custom hot rod shops you see on TV and ask them, they might know people. Places like Foose, Boyd Coddington or west coast customs might be a good place to start.
Let us know what you find out!

^^^ In the February 2013 edition of road and track they talk about blastolene. In the article the builder mentions that the one-off front wheels on this car were 15k. Those are pretty small wheels.

Damn, maybe it will be a lot more than I thought. I was hoping for something more like 1k for each wheel, but more than that much for wheels on a Z4 is too much and way beyond my means.

Have you talked to the people at HRE? Good people and will certainly do what they can for you.

All the higher end custom brands, HRE, ADV, Forge 1 etc can have custom color, offset etc. Those will run you around $5~9k for a set. (price category of superchargers) Sometimes, color scheme play a big role on styling of the wheel.
There's also BC Racing, they're a bit cheaper for forged custom wheels. |
