That's odd...I had my trusted mechanic walk me through the install the first time around. When that showed increased vibration, I went back in and redid everything myself, knowing full well that I'd have to put pressure on the bushings prior to tightening down the nuts. I really took my time as well, to make sure everything was carefully addressed. However, I still am having vibration throughout the rev range. Perhaps it was the same vibration from before I did the mounts simply coming from the motor, and that when swapping the mounts I happened to pay closer attention to how the car felt?

what weight of rp syncromax should I ask my mechanic to order? 90 weight?
On another note, I am a little perplexed by the reports of problematic tranny mount installations. I watched it get done and it was a relatively low complexity procedure, I am surprised that anything could go wrong.

I had the RE trans mount, CDV and RE clutch stop all installed at once a couple of weeks ago. The Clutch/Shifter feel in the MR, to me is the weakest link of whole the car, has improved tremendously. I don't have any increased vibration. The infamous 1-2 shift effect has reduced greatly, it feels tighter, slight more notchy but the feeling of click-click while shifting is pure joy. The whole shifting business just feel tight.
I don't have any experience with UUC mounts but I recommend RE trans mount to anyone. BTW, what's the forum consensus on the recommend mileage to change to Royal Purple Syncromax? None tracked MR.. TIA, |

You can use a jack and a wooden plank to prop the transmission bell housing up a little bit to gain some extra access room to slide the tranny mount bracket back in. That's what I did at least, since I didn't have the star bolt socket required to take off the section 1 piping.

You don't need to remove the exhaust. Just look at Blind32's DIY post. It's tight, but a 13mm box wrench (ratcheting type helps a lot) will work.

His number/contact would be much appreciated. Did you have any added vibration after having the mounts installed as some have experienced? Thanks.

FWIW I had some very minor NVH right after installing UUC black mounts.
They settled in after a week & don't notice any NVH now.
