How to install BMW TPMS

We thought that it would help out them members to go over the correct way to install TPMS in most aftermarket and OEM wheels. There will be slight differences if you have multi-piece or older wheels that are NOT TPMS friendly. They may require an adapter.

First you will need your new TPMS sensor and correct size valve stem.

You should have an extra washer and holder stick with them valve kit.

Attach Torx valve screw to base of sensor.

Insert valve stem into new wheel. Make sure it is a standard valve stem hole.

Add single washer.

Attach valve stem nut.

For BMW's BERU/HUF TPMS set torque tool to 35in/lbs.

Tighten to torque.

Most shops will have a TPMS testing tool to make sure the sensor is activated properly and ready to perform on your new set of wheels.

Done. We would like to thank the guys at ShopTPMS for the great pics. Post up any questions you have. Thanks

Tmps compatibility

Quick question are BMW tmps compatible between series?

I found a local guy selling nice 135i wheels+tires+tmps, the size fits our z4's but I don't wanna trigger tmps and have issues?

I am about to add a second set of rims with summer tires to. '07 M Roadster (I put winter tires on the OEM rims). I bought a set of 3 yr old OEM TPMS that I will be mounting to my new rims with the summer tires. When I put the new rims on the car is there anything I need to do to have the second set of TPMS start communicating with he TPMS system in the car?

Thx.

From what I have read it's a compatibility between years as BMW typically uses the same TPMS system across the different series. With model year 2008, it seems BMW updated their TPMS system and a different TPMS sensor is used from previous model years.
