Nankang tires?
I am in the process of buying my first Z-4 and the dealer just put new Nankang 255/35R18 tires on it. Never heard of them, but am leery. Anyone have any experience with these?
Thanks! |

Have them on my Infiniti M35. the used car dealer did the same thing and have these on when i bought the car. They are probably the cheapest tires out there and they definitely feel like it (noisy, not really good handling, etc...) I have them for about 6k miles and can't wait to replace them (just feel guilty to replace them since they look brand new).
I could only imagine how horrible they are on the Z4 |

If I was you....I'd put Continental CONTI EXTREME CONTACT DW or DWS tires on....don't let them dictate for you. (others may state other ones...but these seem to be the choice for many)
YOU are the buyer... cheap tires...I think not. This is a sports car...not a little datsun!

WHS+1. Contis DWS r one of the best Ultra HP All-seasson tires. A little pricey and i doubt the dealer will give you those but what you could do is ask to see if you could pay extra to get them.
As far as other tires go, some might say that you will be ok with just about any tires (even mis-matched tires. And that might be true 99% of the time but why buy a high performance car and cheap on tires. Good luck w the purchase |

Don't skimp on tires. Go to www.tirerack.com enter your vehicle in and get a list of the tires that will fit your car and your purpose for the tires (all season, summer only, etc...) then print out that list so when you tell the dealer what tires you want and he responds with "those are $300 each tire" you call tell him that's a load of BS.
Better yet, ask him how much he is willing to spend on tires he is putting on the car. Then tell him what you want, knowing what they can be had for. This way, you might not get taken for a ride (at least one you don't want to go on). |

So you have different brands of tires front and rear? Dealer is an Ass if this is the case...

I would be hesitant to use Chinese tires. They're new to the game, and have not proved to be very good. Despite their extremely low prices, all the review I've read indicate they're not worth the trouble.
Maybe give them another decade or two. . .
