Calling all wiring gurus extended MAF wiring
So I extended my MAF wire approx 18" when the VF Engineering blower was installed. I used a pretty heavy guage wire due to not really knowing much about wiring.
Since then I have gathered that different wire guage will affect the current, impedance etc. Should I be using the same guage wire to extend as the original harness is made of? If not what size up or down should be used, also should there be a resistor inline? VF indicated to remove the resistor that came on the supplied short harness. Thanks for any feedback

Use the same size wire or larger. Did you solder and heat shrink the connections?

The MAF shouldn't deal with any high current -probably in the mA - maybe even uA at milivolts -unless the Zs use some kind of heated setup. Eitherway, if you maintain the original gauge or higher you should be ok. The lengths you are running it, the resistance won't have much of an affect on the overall system.
Just make sure you used stranded wire (avoid solid core) and do the connections properly like pokey mentioned. |
