Door handle locking me out of my car

Hi,
My door handle is so tight, i have to use all my strength to try and lift the door up at the same time as using the handle.
It is getting harder to open and my garage said they thought it could be the plastic that stretched and that it would cost £300- 400 ish to put right (but its something they can't do)
Please can you help with advice?
Carly

Carly,

I've run into exactly the same problem on the passenger door of my 2006 Z4. (It seldom gets used.)

I haven't investigated the cause or a possible cure yet. I don't think the door is sagging at all--it's more like the handle just isn't functioning properly. If I can figure anything out, I'll definitely let you know.

i vaguely recall someone having an issue similar to this. If i Recall correctly I believe the problem was a cable of some sort had come lose in the door and was preventing the latch from opening. once they removed the door panel they zip tied the cable out of the way and all was well. im 99% certain i read it on this forum

here i found it for you. Does this sound similar?

It may be the Bowden cable. It could be defective, and need replacement, or it could just be hung up in something.

This thread may help.
