A larger Z4C?

Does this new AMG-GT reminds you of anything on this site?

looks like they took the sexy sculpting of the SLS and then beat it over the head with that overly chunky suburu sports car.

And there's way to much Dodge Charger in that front end/grill.

And the Zs look like the ba$tard child of the old Jag E types and countless many other predecessors. Everyone copies from everyone else I guess.

That building looks cool though.

There's only so much you can put into designing a smaller rectangular box stacked on top of another. The only way around to creating a different shape, is by moving the engine around (to say, the middle of the car or behind the passenger compartment).

The end result is, if you have a long engine block, and minimal requirement for passenger, plus want to make an efficient aerodynamic "reverse wing" shape? Cars are going to look either like old school jaguar coupes, the Ford Daytona Coupe, Dodge Viper GTS, or a slew of other vehicles that all share the same general profile to fit the above criteria.

My wife and I had such a bad experience with a brand new new Merc we bought at the end of last year and over the past winter that we made the buggers buy the car back.

Honestly, this could be the greatest car ever made, but as its a Merc product, I wouldn't keep it even if it were given to me for free by Donald Trump for saying how great his hair looks.

Huz, you make me smile :-D
His hair is bloody terrible, probably the worst I've ever seen. Still if he gave me one for saying so, yeah I'd drive it . My mum also had a spanking merc back in 2000 that must have left the factory on a Monday...worst car ever...

I find it quite fetching and the resemblance to a Z4C is strong. This may well be the closest we ever get to my dream car...the Z4 Mcoupe with a V8 under the hood. If only they had made that car I would have owned it for life.

If the GT came in a manual it would be on my radar...

I like it. It looks good to me. From this angle of the picture, the rear looks like a 993; however, I do prefer a perky butt than the sloping one. F-Type V8 and this AMG GT looks great.

Some of us hope to figure out how to do it as well! (E90 is stripped and we're defining an electrics and coding strategy for the E46.)

I think the new SLS has a lot of F-Type Jaguar influence in the lines. I think it looks decent. I've always been attracted to the long hood slung back coupes i.e. Z4M, Viper, SLS, E-Type, F-Type, etc. I always thought the e89 Z4's looked like a mini SLS. I still like the SLS better over the new GT because of the the powertrain. The m159 is a serious engine and it's a damn shame to see it retired. I'm not digging this small displacement F/I movement for the sake of emissions and fuel economy. Sports cars should have engines with personality.

All I can say is that the past 30 years, there have always been BMW and Mercedes in our garage. And that is still true today. 5 series, 3 series, E class, S class, have been the staples in our garage. (I do love my Z4!) My wife's previous MB was an E320 wagon, 1999 model that we bought new, and we sold it for some nice cabbage at 12 years old, and 187K miles. Her current driver is an E350, 2009, with 78K on the clock, and with the sports suspension. You can throw a blanket over both brands IMO. Merits and demerits are in both blood lines, but what you cannot take away is that within the two marques, these are some of the best driving vehicles in the world. Perfect? Nah. Supreme in road manners? Yep. Other than tire wear, the E class is a great driving machine. Damn near a 535. So I don't equivocate on the differences, I just enjoy the driving experience. As I recently told one of my Infiniti afficionados, I don't give a damn about silver impregnated wood; that has to be a Japanese fantasy that approximates anime. Give me a well built German car, and let me drive. That is the bottom line in any of these comparisons. I might add that my friends' Audi A6 is a worthy vehicle as well. Love the lines of those cars. But love the driving experience of German vehicles even more.
