Regarding treadwear ratings...they are only comparable between tires of the same manufacturer.

i just ordered PSS today for the RGR's. should be here on monday...tire rack ftw.

I too read or heard the same somewhere long ago, but later found out the part about same manufacturer was simply not true. It'd be interesting to pinpoint where we heard this, but I suspect it was pre-web for me.

There is a test course by San Angelo, TX where UTQG testing is done. Searching TP-UTQG-W-01 will take you here which also has the procedures for traction and heat. Interestingly, it sounds like Consumer Reports also uses the same course for their own treadwear testing?

FYI - Ask most SCCA Solo drivers and they can probably tell you a treadwear rating of >=140 is the cut off for street tire classes.
