Z4m starting issue

Hello,

My car has been having a starting issue where when I turn the key the lights turns on but nothing happens. The engine doesn't crank or anything. I then take out the key and wait 30 seconds and it starts fine. It happens a few times a week and usually happens in the mornings. The last time it happened was 3 days ago but I'm not sure why it's happening. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Do you have a clutch stop installed? Is it set to the correct height and not too high up not allowing the engine start?

Mine had a similar problem - turned out to be the ignition switch. Simple fix.

Agreed.

This is a classic ignition switch symptom. Fortunately the replacement is simple on these cars.

^This will become a common problem for many as our cars age.
There is a thread posted with information on this.

You're right. It was that thread (I think it's in the DIY section) that convinced me of what the problem was, and that the fix was something very easily do by myself.

Hell, my local autozone even had the replacement ignition switch in stock.
