Wheel center cap removal
Has anyone found a good tool for removing the wheel center caps without removing the wheels first?
I've got lots of picks, but they scratch the caps when they slip. Some kind of suction device would appear to be ideal, but I haven't found a suitable one in the 1 1/2" size that would appear best suited.

YES! I just did this yesterday.
I used two methods: 1. Get a good suction cup, something like you find in the shower that really sticks on hard. Apply and pull. Check in the shower aisle where the shower caddys are in your Target or Walmart. The one you tried using was probably a regular arts and craft one. Get one that flips down to add extra suction, almost like a double suction cup in one. I had one in my shower already. 2. If you do NOT plan on keep the caps and are replacing them, drill a screw into the middle just a little bit, enough for grip. Grab a pair of pliers and yank it off. BTW, the new style caps for our Z4Ms are on sale for like $60 shipped at ECS. The new styles look so much better than the old ones. Worth the $60 bucks. |

That looks like a paint can opener, except when I used to get those for free from the hardware store, the handle end incorporated a bottle opener!
I think I still may have one or too of those laying around-- I'll see if I can find one and see how it works.
