Thumbs up CDV is teh winnar

Just got the Zeckhausen CDV put on and all I can say is The car has been completely transformed in my mind. I can shift normal again, it's so good. No more jerky starts, super slow shifts, or strange power delivery after a shift. If you haven't done this mod (gutted valve or remove it all together) you don't know what you are missing

Yep, great mod, and cheap too!

Get an indie shop to do it then. Most they should charge is an hour's labor; mine charged me 1/2 an hour's labor since I was having the alignment done at the same time.

why spend money on another CDV when you just remove the oem one and call it a day?

So it looks stock and doesn't red flag the car at the dealer.

Exactly what my shop asked me and exactly what I told them. They charged an hour labor for it but also did a thorough mechanical inspection at the same time too (give me ammo to take to the dealer).

So I put around 200 miles on the car yesterday after the CDV went in and my initial impression was spot on. It literally feels like the car got a different better shifter, I don't know how or why but shifting into gears is easier and smoother. Simply moving the lever into 2nd before was knotchy, it isn't anymore. Maybe redoing the clutch fluid fixed an issue I didn't know I had with disengaging the clutch?

I got my CDV done 2 months ago. It feels good. I took it to an indy shop and ask the tech installed it for me. only took him 15 min, and he charged me $20 bucks.

Before CDV mod, I always having trouble shifting from 1-2. Shift slow is fine but I can't shift slow. Some resist shifting into 2nd. After CDV mod, that resist is gone, shift perfect.

By the way, if your car still have warrenty, delete CDV is insane. $40 for Zeck's mod CDV, $20-40 for tech installation is worth it. Peach of mind boddy, if your car is dealer maintain. Besides, you and dealer tech can clearly see the CDV from the engine bay driver side. It's so obvious if it's missing.

If you just removed the OEM one what would you replace it with?

nothing, if you didn't wnat to. the CDV is a one-way valve and removing gets the same effect as putitng the Zecky on. The Zecky is just for looks if you have to get inspected and are under warranty, it's just the housing apparatus, for lack of a better word.

i plan on deleting mine after my inspection 2.

^u'd basically connect the two clutch lines together, yes. no intermediary connector, which in stock form is the cdv, is required.

Remember brake fluid is corrosive. Try not to get it on the paint or your skin.

Sort of but not exactly.
Nothing actually "takes it's place".
You don't have to add anything.

The CDV is an added fitting in the line.
Just take it out and screw the lines back together

Do a search on Bimmerfest and you'll find everything you need to know about removing your CDV.

IMO, CDV delete should be done as early as possible. Don't wait until you've gotten used to it!

Cost-benefit wise, it's about the best "mod" you can do to this car. That's factoring the $43 shipped for the Zeckhausen unit.

I just don't want the stealer to have any reason to say anything to me. It'll be my first experience with a car (ANY car) under warranty. once i get back home after that it'll be gone. plus while i'm under there, i'll probably put some new tranny mounts on.
